The Mall Has Everything I Need
We got in the car and headed for the local mall. I was thinking of buying a cordless handheld vacuum if a good one was on sale. My shopping buddy had one that I liked. I asked her where she got it. She had been looking for a suitable gift for her uncle and saw the vacuum on sale at the hardware store. Nothing is better than getting a leading brand name product on sale. So she bought it.
I mentioned needing one to vacuum the carpeted stairs at home. It was next to impossible to lug the big vacuum up each stair. I wanted something light weight to pick up small messes like potato chip crumbs. She let her kids use it now to clean up their crumbs after snacking.
I told her about the day Cindy spilled all her beads on the bedroom floor. She scooped up the majority of them, but was still stepping on some in her bare feet. She tried the broom but it didn't work on the carpet. I did finally get out the vacuum and go over her room. She's still too little to push a large vacuum herself I told her.
We stopped to look at a window display of beautiful new bedding quilts. I had been wanting to redecorate the bedroom for some time. We really liked the colors and patterns on these. I noted the one I wanted and planned to wait for a sale. I bought two pillows and we moved on.
We went over to the jewelry department as was our custom. We loved to look at all the earrings. Some looked so delicate, especially the new chandelier styles. I was unable to wear them because I thought my neck was too short. Even though they were popular, I had to pass them up.
My friend bought a bracelet with three rows of pretty crystal beads. It was lovely considering how inexpensive it was. I liked it too but didn't want to buy the same one. I'd buy a similar one another day. There was always new jewelry being displayed.
We looked over the silky scarves, handbags and wallets. Next we wandered back to shoes and remarked that the movie actresses were welcome to hobble around in those stiletto heels. It was like standing on a ladder and hoping you wouldn't fall off. Why put yourself in danger in the first place?
Back in the jewelry department we happened to notice the display of wedding bands for men. We wondered out loud what Scott would select. He was a friend of ours who was getting married in a few months. He was a somewhat adventurous person. We thought he might choose one of the gold bands with diamonds set in them. We thought they were somewhat feminine, but he might like them.
