Brave New World: Use of the word "pneumatic."?
Many women are referred to as "pneumatic," and it seems to be a positive term, although as I recall, Lenina wonders if she's "too pneumatic." (but that's spoken like a woman today who might say, "I don't know, do you think my boobs are too perky?")
I looked up pneumatic, and found this from dictionary.com
1. of or pertaining to air, gases, or wind.

4. filled with or containing compressed air, as a tire.
5. equipped with pneumatic tires.

So - I'm completely confused. Help?
from what I recall of my impression while reading it, I understood it to mean "plump" (in a society where being tiny and thin wasn't the "in" thing).
