why is my saltwater pool still green?
Your Question
have a saltwater pool,......it has a new pump(sand filter) the chlorinater does not work properly so i top up with the chlorine tabs or powder,, i went to the pool specialist and had the water tested and they told me it had enough salt i jus need to top up again with chlorine granule's(ezy sanatiser +)...left the pump on overnight now the stinkin pool is slimy green..whats going on
we've had lots of rain and dust storms which i know have affected it but it shouldn'tnt have gone the way it is
what do i do?
Your pool has algae.
1. Remove any visible debris from the pool.
2. Adjust the pH of the pool. Chlorine pool chemicals are formulated to work best within the 7.2 to 7.4 range. Chlorine compounds are not as effective in water with a high pH.
3. Treat the pool with a high quality Algaecide. To guarantee results, read the label to assure the species of algae present will be suppressed.
4. Shock the pool to remove any residual chemical and restore chlorine levels.
5. Run your filtration system. Backwash sand or DE filters; this will clean the filter after the treatment. If you have a cartridge system you may choose to clean or change your filter at this time.
6. Clean your pool. Brush the sides and bottom to remove any algae still present.
7. If the algae bloom persists, you may want to have your water tested. High levels of nitrates, phosphates or other contaminants can limit chlorine activity.
