Emergen Switch

emergen heater does anyone have one

can someone tell me the pros and cons of having one of these and how to run them efficiently as my mil is saying just have it switched on all the time as it will use less electric rather than leaving it to cool down then reboil up again
spelt it wrong i think its immersion sorry
i only have a coal fire and this is why i have to have one fitted as im sick of putting my fire on it the hot weather !
I couldnt afford to put gas in or a combi boiler or whatever as its only costing me £45 to get this installed

Mmm, immersion heaters can be quite costly to run, particularly if they are left on permanently. Better to install a combination boiler.

EDIT;
Are you on benefits? If so, contact British Gas; you may be eligible to have central heating fitted free of charge. Make enquiries about The Eager Scheme. This is where people either pensioners, or people receiving certain benefits qualify for things such as new bathrooms, new kitchens, new boilers, or full heating systems. My husband is currently working on a similar scheme in the Stratford area of London. You should make enquiries. It would be much cheaper in the long run than running an immersion heater. Used proerly, on a timer, a combi boiler provides instant hot water for a fraction of the price of an immersion heater.
