Russell & Smith Honda Gets Vehicles Road Ready For Summer
In the market for Truck Service Houston buyers have come to trust Russell & Smith Honda Dealerships in Texas. That's not all! With a huge inventory of Used Volkswagen Texas drivers know that Russell & Smith Honda gets lifetime loyalty from their many happy customers.
Russell & Smith used cars for sale in Houston wants to ensure safe driving. Winter has passed and temperatures are now approaching record highs and no relief until fall, every driver must consider the terrible effect that the heat can have on an unserviced vehicle. The Honda Service team at the Houston Honda dealer have offered to share this checklist that can save any driver time, money, and aggravation this summer driving season.
The first step is checking the air pressure in the tires. Seasonal temperature changes affect tire pressures. Improper tire inflation affects ride quality and gas mileage; remember that an over-inflated tire is just as potentially harmful as an under-inflated tire. Don’t forget to inflate the spare tire and check that the roadside tools (jack, lug-wrench, and wheel lock if necessary) are functional.
Next make sure all of the fluids are full including radiator coolant, engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid and wiper fluid. Make sure to pay special attention to the HOT and COLD zones on the dipsticks and only fill to the correct line. Adding too much oil or fluids can damage sensitive engine components.
Check that the battery is completely charged and the battery terminals are free of corrosion. The heat can drain a car battery in no time and summertime humidity can lead to build-up on the battery terminals.
People often ignore shoddy windshield wipers until it is to late and they are in an unsafe driving condition. There should be no cracks and the metal hooks should be clear of the glass surface. A new set of wiper blades can be had for $20 and can really take the stress out of summer driving.
Lastly check the serpentine belts for cracks and tightness. A constant squeaking noise is the first warning sign of imminent belt failure. This belt typically runs the A/C compressor, alternator, and power steering so keeping a close eye on it can be the difference between a good running car and catastophe.
If you don't want to do your own pre trip inspection bring your car to Russell&Smith Honda's Service Department. Get your vehicle serviced by the pros. Using OEM parts in a professional shop staffed with factory certified technicians, Russell&Smith Honda can provide a fun and trouble-free summer road trip. There are many possible pitfalls involved with summer driving, but with proper maintainance car trouble doesn't have to be one of them.
What's the air that builds up in my Air Compressor after all the air has been drained?
I have a Craftsman Air Compressor (1.5hp, 20 Gal, 150psi) and every time I pull on the safety valve (Pressure relief valve), it release air. I pull on it every 20 minutes when I can and it always releases air. How is air getting into the tank? I checked the drain valve and it's closed. I drain all the air out of the tank when I'm done too. I know how to use the Compressor I just don't know what's causing this air in the tank after all the air has been drained.
Variations in temperature and atmospheric pressure can affect the release of air from a compressor. After you release "all the air" from the compressor, it is not empty. There will be air left that is at atmospheric pressure; once the air pressure inside equals the air pressure outside it will no longer vent. After you close the drain the air inside is isolated from changes in atmospheric pressure. If the pressure outside decreases (because of a front or the warming of the earth's surface) the pressure inside the tank will now be greater than atmospheric, and when you open the valve, air will release. The same holds true if the temperature increases. Warmer air wants to take up a larger volume, as the air in the compressor warms it exerts a greater pressure as it tries to expand.
