I ran it for a couple minutes without oil and then instead of starting op to fill with air it just makes a humming noise. What can I do about it?
Sounds like a seized rod bearing to me. Compressors like this are usually shipped without oil because they can be tipped and the oil will go where we don't want it to. In most cases the repair is more costly than a replacement.
